A few days ago now, I had a dream about a tarot card. It was marked very clearly "The Magician", but it was not a card that I know from a specific deck, so if you know of the deck that has this card in it, would you please let me know!!!
This card was bigger than my normal cards. It was also shiny and was on thicker card. There was a beautiful bird on it, in colour. Not very bright colours, but pastal shades. I didn't recognise the bird, it was similar though to a Bird of Paradise with a long tail. At the bottom of the card was a single flower, I think it was a rose, but I can't be sure. The bird was by a big upright mirror. The wording on the bottom of the card read "The Magician". The bird's head was sideways on and it wasn't looking at the mirror directly.
Interestingly when I could, I went to Borders to look at the books. I opened up one on tarot and it fell immediately to the page of The Magician. Now I know this could be coincidence, or maybe someone might say it is "synchronicity", but I think perhaps I am meant to chew over this card this month anway.
I usually love this card; the Magician is number one in the Major Acana. He stands between heaven and earth and has all four elements at his disposal - earth, fire, water and air. So he has thought, emotion, life energy, and material tools to use.
The Magician is the Magi. It brings to mind Gandolf (Olorin) , otherwise Merlin. The background of the Magi can lead us to the 3 Wise Men who visited Jesus and brought with them gifts; the word Magi is linked to Magos. This word relates to a Priestly caste, leaders who had deep knowledge of religion, who interpreted dreams. They are also linked to astrology and maths. If we think Gandolf, Olorin or Merlin, we are linked to the owl - for wisdom, and sometimes too to the hour glass, which is timeless. We can upturn time and the sands will run through again.
This can be a card of new beginnings; more often than not though I will link it to the comforting knowledge that we have what is needed at the time. It may be to manifest what it is that is needed or wanted, it may be that we can draw on our own strengths and resources because they are there. It is to me a card of strength, bringing in heaven and earth which is at our disposal in the situation.
The Magician can stand for many things. It is a card of energy though (which is so welcome for me!). Figuritively, it can stand for a character. This can be doctor, scientist, lecturer, salesman - and yes, in a negative light it can also stand for a conman or a manipulator.
However my card that I saw in my dreams, did not hold all the elements of fire, water, earth and air. It held the bird and the mirror. Perhaps then this brings out the revelation side that the Magician card in tarot also has. Things will be revealed in due time. The only thing is if you think about the mirror, is that the image that looks back at you is reversed. The image that was by the mirror in my dream was a bird. Like the magician figure who links to heaven and earth, birds fly between heaven and earth. To me birds signifiy beauty, spirit, sometimes as well signify freedom or can be seen as message bearers.
I have never had a dream before about a card. So it strikes me that this card is particularly relevant for me now. Main messages that spring to mind for me - witness instead of judge; know that there is more to life than you realise; be quiet inside and out, hear emotional wisdom, sit back, watch, look, listen; act with confidence.
To me the Magician card is also linked to The Hermit. The Hermit is often linked to the star sign of Virgo; The Magician does not seem linked to any specific time astrologically probably due to all the four elements which cover all the Zodiac signs. However he is linked to the planet Mercury, which rules Virgo.
During February, there are two major events this year connected astrologically with Mercury and one connects well with the Magician. I found this by looking up this month with astrology, looking at http://www.truthstar.com/articles/Major_Astrology_Events_February_2008.asp
"Mercury conjuncts Venus on February 26, 2008. This is an excellent period for tabling futuristic schemes, dynamic plans, and for churning your portfolio in an attempt to boost returns on your investments. There could be exciting developments for those in love. Mercury remains within 2 to 3 degrees of Venus for the next 30 days or so, and this period is very auspicious for making fresh starts of any kind."
Wishing you love and light and may the energies of life and the universe abound with you.

Pet taroscopes
Being low on energies I've taken the article for todays post that I had on my website. I've added to it a little, but it seems appropriate to post it as we are coming up to March 1st, Spring being on it's way as is St. David's Day.
My Afghan boy, Logan, was born in Wales on St David's Day, 1st March, 2004. His tarot birth card number is 10. (0+1+0+3+2+0+0+4). It gives him two cards, the Wheel of Fortune and The Magician.
The tarot has links to Astrology, numerology and to the Tree of Life. In looking at the energies of Logan's birth tarot cards, we can build a " taroscope" for him.
Logan is quick to change from sleeping to having lots of energy; he cares for those about himby giving the odd glance when he is a little concerned for them. He can be a little mischievous and can be very child like, seeing the fun in situations and seizing opportunities to have fun.He is clever and can adapt from one situation to another, and will very quickly, almost instantly, take his chances to explore, have fun.
He can also knows how to manipulate and "magic" up what it is that he wants. This means he can do his sitting down impression of being gorgeous and irresistible and know that we know this means he wants a treat like a biscuit.
He can hide things that he has seen and taken a fancy too. He notices all the small things. Yet he has times when he seems to withdraw, he likes his own space at times. He is sensitive to his exterior world. His star sign is Pisces, so he knows if those around him are happy or upset. He is kind and caring but can get easily excited with unknown things and can be carried away with the momentum that is happening. He loves quiet music and can be a bit of a doggy "muse”...
As 2008 is a wheel of fortune year, this cards energy is quite important to him this year.
He is a master at making the most of things and can be clever, knowing how to manipulate situations to his liking! Because of this, and also because of his birth links to the Magician (control) and the Wheel of fortune (balance but also accepting) I.e. a bit of contrast there, he is not very good with any limitations thrust on him, so he really dislikes it when he is asked not to do something, or is placed in a situation where he is expected to conform (ie the dog groomers!!)
10 is about completeness, a circle has turned full cycle. It is also linked to manifestation, a harvest , but it is also about balance and the cycles of things. Logan does not have a problem with the change of seasons, but loves his home comforts and relishes his own “harvest” and he makes himself very comfortable at home. On Karmic level, this card is linked to violet, and to the planet Jupiter, so it too has a spiritual link to it, but this is also a card about clearing out old energies. Each day is new, the seasons are all new, Logan does sees the beauty in things and because of this he is very nosey, wanting to see what is behind the garden fence, and notices any new things that I bring home, very quickly.
If we take a deeper look into his character, it fits in too with the Emperor card (4). This links to the month and day Logan was born, and I can see the energies of the Emperor card coming in to play with Logan as he is often quite stubborn on things and likes to take command or at least look, as if he is in charge. He also does not like being fussed much and is content to come and say hello to you on his terms rather than you going over to him! It may also be behind his "guard" instinct; Afghans have not got a good write up as a guard dog but Logan is very much a vocal guard dog at home and will vocally warn if people approach. A bit like the Emperor, taking charge of his territory and letting people know he is around!
Interestingly the Magician is linked to heaven and earth. Communication wise, Logan seems to rrespond more to my thoughts than spoken commands or to hand signals. As he is connected to all life (the magician has before him all the life keys of the tarot) - Logan loves everyone, wanting to say hello to everyone who comes into contact with him. In a similar way, people who come into contact with him are drawn to him, because magicians after all do tend to draw our concentration to what they are doing.

Being Thankful
In recent days my energy levels have been very low and this has had an impact and I am catching up slowly with a bit of a wait list. It is hard when things are hard literally to do, to keep my manifestation of love and light around me. Or even to think about things that I should be grateful for!
Can a card spread help us to use the Laws of Attraction, or Cosmic Ordering, to manifest what is lacking, and suggest those things that we should be grateful for?
Okay the spread I want to do is the one with the 12 cards, which is based loosly on the horoscope spread if you like, but I've adapted it for me. And as my energy levels is a bit low today I've ammended it to cover 9 areas of my life.
Okay, my spread. And the tips it gives me for working with the Cosmos and the Laws of Attraction:
1. Love and Relationships: I pulled The Magician. I think this card is telling me that through working on a relationship in a spiritual way I have changed things, and to be grateful for it. I also am drawn to the eternal figure 8 sign above his head. The tools that I need to work at this relationship are always at hand, and I need to give thanks for them.
2 Work - The Page of Pentacles. I should expect good news on the work front which is nice, avoid negative thoughts. Think positively. Value what I can do and what is coming its way to me. Be expectant for good things here.
3 Home and family - The Fool. This has the biggest message for me so far. There are new beginnings at foot for my family and some of them I haven't had positive thoughts about. So I need to be grateful for the new start for the members of my family and also list all the positive things that are there for them. They will be by the sea and by a big forest; they are not far from a big shopping area and there is a good nursery near by for my grandson. They will be going to a land full of folk law, fairies and leprachauns - magic abounds and I should wish them on their way with a glad heart.
4 Partner: Okay I wasn't planning a Partner card, but this comes in my mind before I turn over the next card which comes after the Fool. It's the 9 swords, upturned though.... thankfully I think I have done my crying a year or so back! This card, even upturned, carries with it negative aspects such as doubt. However when you look at the card it shows someone in bed holding their forehead in their hands; the swords lie horizontal above her. So with the laws of attraction in mind, I need to not waste energy on thoughts that have no solid foundation. Instead I need to know everything is in hand. The Cosmos gives us what we think. We get what we think about whether we want it or not. So having surety in mind will help. I need to be sure about what I know about.I need to let go of negative, or ven painful thoughts because I don't know if they are real things I need to worry about. They are simply niggling doubts that waste energy. I don't need to face it because it isn't there , but may be will be if I think about it too much! If I transfer this to my partner, it means to keep him positive and encourage him to spend energy on what he knows about and let go of those things he worries about which have no firm foundation.
5. Dogs. Ace of Cups. Give thanks for their health and wellbeing. I like this card in the area of my life that concerns my dogs. I would like to work eventually in animal communication, so this would be great. I will put this on my Cosmic Ordering list for today.
6. Money. Give thanks for money coming in. I know this card means other things not as positive as giving thanks, but remember, we are talking about cards helping us to work within the Laws of Attraction and Cosmic Ordering. And if we think about it, if we are working with money coming in, we need to be careful to with what money we are spending. So I need to be wise really and know that the Cosmos can provide for my needs. So when ordering in money terms, I need to ensure I give thanks for this and know that my needs will be met (as opposed to my wants for now, anyway!)
7. What I need to focus on. Knight of Cups. This is reversed. I have a number of reversed cards today which is unusual with me as I make sure all my cards stay upright, it is just that as I have selected them and picked out my twelve cards, in that process some of them have become reversed. I need to re-affirm my truths. Work to my morals. I need to give thanks, knowing that I am much looked after and loved by Spirit and the Divine (God). I need to reaffirm that I am loved and that I am secure.
8. Inspiration.Qeen of cups! Another card with water - interesting. It comes after the Knight, so again I think inspiration will come when I have re-established love and security and given thanks for it. Inspiration could come from a female friend; which will encourage me to give thanks for each of my female friends and to ask the Cosmos to allow their wisdom to come forward. Again though it can also indicate romance, relationships, emotions. So perhaps my inspiration, new ideas / ways of working is in this area. Again I need to give thanks for the spiritual help and guides that work with me and be open to inspiration for this area.
9. Security. I pulled "Death". This is a card of new beginnings. It can sometimes mean a loss, but more often than not it is new beginnings, the end of one thing and the start of new.
I need to give thanks for new opportunities. Interestingly it is part of the Wayne Dyer's show today that I heard on Hay House. About being thankful even when you are challenged, or even when you have to face thoughts of self doubt or betrayal, as this so often means the end of one thing, whether it is our thoughts, or something more real like our situations, and the start of something new. And in doing so I can move on positively. It then becomes a card of strength and a good one to have in mind as the month of February progresses.
One of the first rules of manifesting things, the right positive things in your life, is to be grateful. Living in grateful acceptance. Wayne Dyer (see his show on Hay House radio) today came up with an inspirational show again that touched my heart. He invariably touches my heart and soul every time I listen to him and his show has inspired me for todays blog. Hope you enjoy it, and if you have a pack of cards and want to see what they say for working with the Cosmos!
