Tarot-scope for 2008

2008 links to card ten of the Major Acana, The Wheel of Fortune.

This card brings in luck, change, fortune, abundance, happiness, elevation - but it is a card of movement. 2008 may well bring in changes that just happen, changes though that can bring benefits that were not expected.

This is a card then for those of you who says "it is about time something good happened to me." . Expect something good. This is a card of movement, change and evolution, with that unexpected extra money coming in, the new job that just arrives, an unexpected promotion, that special person in your life that brings about great comfort and love - a chance meeting that brings benefits. That phone call with good news. The breaks that you just would love specially in a difficult, hard year. Karmic payback perhaps. What goes around, comes round.

The letters on the wheel spell out " Tarot" as the wheel turns this can be Rota. In other words, 2008 is a year of a rota. Our time will come. Changes can just happen and all of us can expect that little bit of good fortune to come wheeling its way to us.

Wheels do sometimes do a full turn, so this is a year perhaps when a new cycle begins for many people, with new starts in areas of their lives for example, job, home, relationships.
If you look at the astrological links, this card can be linked to Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. A time for new beginnings maybe.

Significant dates: looking at the card and it’s links to numbers, important months could be September and October, and numbers / dates could be 10, 21 and 9.

Whereas this card can also bring a few ups and downs with it, the essence is of spirituality which is constant. Forever there. The good fortune link is strong on this card, so perhaps in 2008 this really is a good year for us all to remember the Laws of Attraction, Cosmic ordering, and so on. Wheels after all are turned by energy, and in this card it seems to be the Cosmos that is the energy behind the Wheel.

Have faith then through any ups and downs and expect the unexpected, so this is not a year to be too rigid on things. Flexibility, and just letting things flow seem to be the key. At the corners of the card are pictures symbolizing the four elements or astrological signs listed above. These link to Earth, Air, Fire and Water. A balance and harmony between the four elements, and symbols which link to wisdom / intelligence, health, and vitality / life force.

Perhaps then in the year 2008 the message is to remain balanced and be open to learning opportunites. Sometimes changes bring about learning, and sometimes learning brings about changes. Because of the link with the four elements, I am also reminded of the Magician when I look at this card. The Magician had all four elements as tools. Perhaps if we are open to the opportunities, luck, etc we can make changes for the better and expand materially and spiritually.

The Wheel is linked to Jupiter, the planet of luck, opportunity, and abundance and to the goddess Fortuna in Roman mythology. Perhaps we can draw more fortunate and positive pathways to us by being open to the opportunities that come our way in 2008 and by being objective and flexible rather than trying to control everything. Crystal connection - Jade. For luck, wealth - abundance really.

2008 Affirmation:
I have the means to achieve all that I can be in my thoughts, words and actions. The power to change the reality that is around me lies within. I can enjoy the rhythm of life. Divine Light and Love is within me and around me. I welcome and expect Divine Light and Love to shine in my life, allowing me the opportunity to create anew.

Song from Spirit

When an angel visits from afar
Spirit calls, guidance leads
We find signals on the breeze
Messages written for us to see
Even in the petals on the tree...
Whispered in the falling light
Comfort and joy in the coldest night
Where theres discord or disharmony
Healing comes from me to theeIn the form of light you see...
Lights take many shapes and forms
To see us call our name and you will be
Transported to a place of harmony
Where guidance lights the path at night
And by day our spirit flames the way...
We wish you welcome in the world we see
Just call our name, it doesn't take long
And we can be your guiding hand,
Walk you through a troubled path
And as you walk your spirit grews strong...
We are around; come listen to our song.

Dowsing with a pendulum - beginners guide

There are several readers and healers who use a pendulum to either find out yes/no answers to questions, or who use it to locate things or areas of concern which need attention.

In the past, many of our mothers/grandmothers used a wedding ring as a pendulum to find out whether an expected baby was male/female; others have used a pendulum to locate energy sources positive/negative within the home. There are lots of ways of using a pendulum.

Pendulums come in different sizes/shapes, colours and materials. Often a variety of gemstones / crystals can be used as a pendulum, as can a pendant or, as above, a ring, or a needle. The pendulum can be placed on a cord, cotton, thread or silk which is strong enough to bear the weight of the pendulum.

For simplicity, needles can make good pendulums especially if you want to find out about dowsing for yes and no answers to questions. For one, they are cheap and available, and for two they are a nice even shape and are light.

However certain crystals make excellent pendulums and a variety of shapes and types of crystal are used for this purpose. One of the best ways of finding out the crystal for you is first to try out several of the crystal pendulums to see which gives off the most energy in their swing or vibration. Another way is to do a little research into the crystal first and have a short list if you like of those that you are drawn to; another way is to visit the stall or shop and try the pendulum crystal that you are most drawn to. Crystal stalls / shops should be familiar with people handling their crystals and should allow you the freedom to do this. You may find that the first crystal pendulum you are drawn to responds to you in a very expressive and clear way. Prices for crystals do vary, the price differences can relate to the quality and clarity of the crystal although it can also relate to the sellers charging policies.

There are no set pathways for a yes or a no answer. To find out the pathway for you and for the pendulum, ask it simply to show you a "yes" and for it to show you a "no". The pendulum can swing a variety of ways, clockwise, anticlockwise, diagonally, horizontally, or travel from top to bottom in a downwards/upward movement. If you are unsure of the swings, hold the pendulum above your palm to see the shadow there, or over paper.

How a pendulum works is not set in stone. For me I find that the pendulum can sometimes react according to my thought patterns. Because of this I always welcome in a new item that I use for a pendulum, and ask it to only show me true answers through Divine Light and Love.

If it doesn't work for you at all, if there is no movement, then perhaps try again later when your mind is clearer. Once you have asked it your question then simply "be" if you can; tap into the way of simply being with the pendulum, placing your thoughts on hold. It is easier said than done!

It is interesting to see how the pendulum reacts with visual things; try working with photographs of people that your question is about. Treat your pendulum though with respect, if you are honest with it there is more opportunity energy wise for it to be honest with you. I find that visual images often have a habit of increasing the energy response of the pendulum.

As you work more and more with pendulums, you will be amazed at the difference in vibrations in swings that different pendulums have.

Another way that you can work with pendulums is with choices. Perhaps you are lucky enough to be offered two jobs, or perhaps you need to make a choice of one thing against another. You can always write your choices on two pieces of paper, perhaps including a picture if relevant. Explore the answers with as open a mind as possible with your pendulum.

The answers given by your pendulum obviously cannot be guaranteed, but if you explore working in this way you may be surprised at how the pendulum can often illustrate your own intuitive thoughts.

Wednesday has come around all too soon; this day is associated with Archangel Gabriel and Raphael. Gabriel can help inspire and motivate us (and we need this particularly midweek) and both are connected with healing. Wednesday in Wicca is also associated with communication, travel, wisdom, intelligence, and creativity, and is ruled by Mercury. It's also connected with Morrigan, Queen of the Fairies and Supreme War Goddess - although it is said that she was there to help, not to wage war. Morrigan is connected with the colour green - if you are a Virgo or a Gemini, which is ruled by Mercury, try wearing this colour on a Wednesday, as it helps with creativity growth, and rejuvenation.

We can use Wednesday as an opportunity to have that Indian head massage or Reiki, to write that letter, also it is a good day to start that essay or to review it. It's also a good day for self expression, so if there is something at work that you have been longing to ammend in order to express yourself, well this is a good day to do it.

In the cards, if we take Wednesday as day 4, we have The Emperor. Interesting, because this is a card that links to the value of 4 in numerology, where 4 is connected to: mercy, but also to reality, completing foundations, practicality; authority, and command. This really sums up the Emperor figure in tarot; he is an older man, sitting firm in cloack of red, wearing his yellow crown. Yellow is for positivity; the power really of the mind, confidence, and communication.

This card is linked to Aeries, the ram. The red cloak indicates that the Emperor is secure, well-established; it also suggests that he is analytical and will seek out well rooted knowledge before making a decision. The Emperor is aligned with the Sun, and the red and yellow colours also suggests his fiery energy of being quick, enrgetic, and taking control of things. He is thoughtful, can be sensitive (under his cloack is his armour); but he is a ruler, a leader (and good rulers always listen to others, but in the end, make their own final deciscions and can communicate them well. This is a man who has proved himself worthy. He has won most of his battles and can now look at what he has achieved, making sure it stays worthy and beautiful - as did King Arthur type. He also represents fatherhood - protecting and providing for others.

We can work with this card by simply having it around us, particularly at our work station; it calls us if spirit is troubled by ethical issues, to offer up problems to a much higher power (Gabriel / Raphael, through Divine Light and Love. If you are feeling a bit vulnerable or frail, or under another's influence today and want to assert some diplomacy and assertiveness, reach out for the Emperor, or read a little about Morrigan.

Wishing you all the confidence, love and light
